Emmy and Academy Award(TM) nominee James Newton Howard has scored over 80 films and worked with some of pop music's elite, including Elton John, Cher and Barbra Streisand. As a visonary that wasn't afraid to depart from tradition in order to create music to perfectly accompany a film, he continues to influence peers and set new standards for soundtrack excellence.
Howard's evocative scores for THE PRINCE OF TIDES (1991), THE FUGITIVE (1993), MUMFORD (1999) and THE SIXTH SENSE (1999) have broken new ground in blending orchestral music with the keyboard.
A musical producer, arranger and pianist, Howard has worked with some of Hollywood's top producers, writers and directors, including Lawrence Kasdan, Joel Shumacher, David Mamet, Ivan Reitman, Scott Hicks and Irwin Winkler, and is highly sought after for his ability to create the right musical setting for films. Films scored by Howard for release in 2002 include TREASURE PLANET, WHO SHOT VICTOR FOX and DREAMCATCHER.
Among his credits as a composer are: FIVE CORNERS (1987), PRETTY WOMAN (1990), DYING YOUNG (1991), FRENCH KISS (1995), MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING (1997), RUNAWAY BRIDE (1999), SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS (1999), ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE (2001) and AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS (2001).
